Defensive errors by Wyresdale allowed the "Lads Club" to score two goals against the run of play, and possibly provide an unexpected result. In the first half, Wes Gallagher scored raced around 2 defenders before hitting a hard low shot past the keeper. In the second half, chance after chance fell to Wyresdale, but they were unable to capitalise, except for a disputed penalty for handball, slotted home by Whiteside. Despite more pressure by the away side, a misjudged clearance after a speculative ball from the Lads Club midfield allowed Joel Crossman to pounce for the winner.

 Westhoughton 0 – 1 Hindsford Res (7th April)

A game of very few chances saw Hindsford run out One-Nil winners under lights at Daisy Hill. The Bolton Sunday League side made Hindsford fight every inch of the way, with the best chances coming to Westhoughton down the right hand side. Goal-less at half time, there was little incident for the decent sized crowd to cheer. The pace picked up as the match continued, with Hindsford making the better chances, and finally hitting the crossbar, and then scoring from a Dan Babilinski header from a corner with about 10 minutes to go. Despite a late rally, Hindsford hung on and will play Bolton County in the next round.

Atherton Collieries 3 – 2 Hindsford (3rd April)

A highly competitive and entertaining game was won by the odd goal in 5. Collieries were never behind in the scoring, and although Hindsford levelled twice, they never looked strong enough to win the tie. Danny Shannon scored the first goal of the game, mid-way through the first half, with a tap-in from 5 yards. Hindsford's first equaliser came from a well worked move involving 5 players with Ron Swanson scoring from the right. Andy Lavendis restored Atherton's lead before half time with a low shot from 18 yards after a solo run. The home side could have extended their lead after a mix-up between Hindsford's keeper and defenders, but instead Peter Costello scored in the top corner after a good passing move, to equalise again. Atherton's Andy Barker scored the winner close to the end with a drive from 10 yards under the diving keeper. - Lavendis goal

Atherton Town 3 - 0 Breightmet United (2nd April)

This year's competition finally got started after 5 postponements due to the March weather. This match turned out to be a comfortable win for Atherton after an even first half hour. Mark Prince broke the deadlock with a powerful header in off the post from a corner before half time. The second half was much more one-sided, with Atherton having a series of chances before Mark Parry scored their second from close range from another corner. Mark Prince rounded off the display with an excellent lob over the keeper from 12 yards after a run and some delicate close control.
